Hello, Buy Buy Baby!

Friday, January 14, 2011

There are a couple of my friends that are either also pregnant or are thinking about starting a family soon, so I thought I would make a post about the awesomeness that is Buy Buy Baby.

Buy Buy Baby isn't a very large chain as of yet, but they're expanding and definitely worth checking out.  If you're familiar with Bed, Bath, & Beyond from your wedding registry days, Buy Buy Baby is the same, just everything is baby-related!  They're owned by the same company and in fact, the best thing about them is that they accept current (non-expired) Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons, so you can typically buy your items at 20% off!  (Some exclusions apply, of course, so read the fine print on the coupon.)  They also have the same stellar return policy as Bed, Bath, & Beyond and their employees are very helpful and know their baby stuff!  If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can schedule an appointment with a "personal shopper" who will help you with your registry.

What really caught my attention was their fabulous selection of products.  I felt like I was able to register for nearly everything on my list at one place, instead of having to break my list up among 2 or more places.  They also offer many organic options, which can sometimes be hard to find at other big-box stores.

I'll admit -- what really got me into their store was their selection of strollers, specifically I wanted to test-drive the Bugaboo!  Unfortunately, that stroller was out of our price range, but we did manage to find 2 others we liked: the Baby Jogger City Select (on the left) and the Baby Jogger City Mini (on the right).  In the end, we chose the amazing Baby Jogger City Mini, which boasts a one-hand fold and weighs a measly 18 lbs.!

As long as I'm talking about registering here, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their generous goody bag!  One of the items you get is a bottle!  A bottle!  Talk about practical!  Yes, please, I'd like a FREE bottle! :)

As for the 800-lb. gorilla in baby registries, Babies R Us, Chris and I scrapped them early on because of encountering awful customer service with them on more than one occasion.  Our headaches with them started pre-pregnancy when we tried to buy a stroller from them online as a gift for one of our family members, which they cancelled without warning and offered us a paltry discount for the "inconvienence," and has continued, with our most recent experience being getting a gift card from them during a promo, but we weren't able to use it until 6 hours AFTER activation, which would've put us in the store after closing.  *Raising eyebrow*  Really?  How strange.  So, we were more than happy to take our business elsewhere since they seemed so unaccommodating and were so happy to find this alternative!  We're fans of Buy Buy Baby, so if there's one near you, I encourage you to check them out!
